Retrospective Risk Adjustment

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services reimburses health plans based on a standard bidding process for the average member.  However, if a member is risk-adjusted for chronic illness, the plan is reimbursed at a higher rate and may even be eligible to receive retroactive, back payments.
