Residency Checks
If you suspect that an applicant or claimant has provided a fraudulent home address, you can get the facts with a residency check. Our investigators quickly find whether someone has committed or is attempting rate evasion by offering an incorrect permanent address.
Most commonly a residency check will be used by a carrier trying to determine whether a claimant is eligible for coverage under a household member’s automobile policy (for example, personal injury protection).
To determine if a stated address is legitimate, our investigators search databases to develop a potential address history at the time of an accident. Telephone canvassing may also be used, as well as a Department of Motor Vehicle search/inquiry and additional field work, if necessary.
