Six Receive ACORD Early Adopter Awards at NAILBA XIX
WASHINGTON, DC 11/10/2000 --
Five software providers and one insurer received the prestigious
ACORD Early Adopter awards today at NAILBA XIX. The award,
which recognizes technology leadership in the insurance industry,
was given for early implementation of ACORD XML Standards
for Life Insurance.
Frederick J. Rella, vice president of member
services, ACORD, presented the Early Adopter award to GE Financial
Assurance, ChannelPoint, ZeBU, EMSI,
MYND and AgencyWorks. Rella congratulated the recipients for
"advancing the implementation of the new NAILBA-ACORD standards.
These efforts represent giant strides toward bringing the
advantages of XML standards to Life agencies and brokerages."
Tony Cravitz, CLU, chair of the NAILBA Technology
Committee, said, "It is important to recognize those who have
taken seriously the work NAILBA and ACORD are trying to accomplish
together. Those companies that do will become leaders in the
implementation of new technologies." Cravitz is secretary/treasurer
of CPS/New Generation, Granada Hills, CA.
NAILBA is a nonprofit trade association dedicated
to serving the interests of value-added, independently owned
life brokerage agencies throughout the United States and North
America. NAILBA and ACORD agreed, in May 1999, to partner
on the development of XML standards for life insurance. By
combining the NODEX (NAILBA's Open Data Exchange) standards
with the ACORD XML data model, ACORD and NAILBA are able to
jointly deliver a single set of standards in one format for
the benefit and enhancement of the entire life insurance industry.
To support implementation of the ACORD standards
in the NAILBA community, ACORD offers a special implementation
package to those that fund the ACORD Standards process. The
package contains data mappings between NAILBA and ACORD standards,
and sample XML documents demonstrating pending case and in-force
download usage of the standard. To obtain the special implementation
package, contact Geri Prescott, gprescott@acord.org.
